Frequently Asked Questions
-
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll discuss what has brought you to counselling, what you hope to achieve, and whether I'm the right counsellor for you. There is no pressure to share everything straight away, and we'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
-
Each session lasts 50 minutes.

This varies from person to person. Some people benefit from a small number of sessions, while others prefer longer-term counselling.
As a guide, I often suggest starting with 6-8 sessions. This allows time to build a trusting therapeutic relationship, create a sense of safety, and gives you the opportunity to feel more comfortable exploring your thoughts and feelings.
There is no obligation to continue for a set number of sessions. We will regularly review how things are going and decide together what feels right for you, ensuring counselling remains tailored to your individual needs.
-
Yes. Everything you share is treated confidentially.
There are rare exceptions where confidentiality may need to be broken if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else, where there are safeguarding concerns, or where disclosure is required by law. If possible, I will always discuss this with you first.
